I've been working with Steve for over a decade now and can't recommend him highly enough. I'm probably a trying client for he and his staff, but they deal with me with grace. I'm self employed and not very good at dealing with all the tax issues that Steve excels at. The primary reason that I started working with him was that I liked his personality and felt he's someone I could have confidence in. That perception was unquestionably true as I have complete faith in him.
I know when I selected Mr. Hintz as my accountant, having chemistry to work with someone I could trust and rely upon was important, as was competency. The last thing I needed from my accountant was poor or inaccurate advice and strategies which could create tax issues for me down the road. Having interacted with Steve for several years with my business and personal tax situations, I have found him to be both responsive and knowledgable, and he has been able to solve different tax issues for me as they have appeared. He has been a pleasure to work with, and I would highly recommend him to anyone. Unfortunately most reviews published are negative ones, and likely only reflect the opinion or experience of one client rather than everyone.
We live out of state. We were preparing our returns with a different firm. In 2011, my husband and I took the day off to come to Connecticut to file our returns; the preparer had canceled our appointment and never informed us—very unprofessional. A friend referred us to Steven Hintz, CPA, who was sympathetic and took us that day. We have been his clients ever since. His office is a pleasure to work with (Renee is Great!) and they are PROFESSIONAL, KNOWLEDGEABLE, and THOROUGH. Even though we are out of state, we are able to file our complicated tax returns without coming to Connecticut. We highly recommend this office.
